Arachnophobia.

Tragedy struck the world tonight. I was innocently kneeling on the floor to pick something up from under my desk, and when I stood up, I felt something on my leg. I nonchalantly brushed it away and then SAW IT. Words cannot even describe to you what went through my head other than I wanted to scream, cry, throw up and DIE all at the same time. He ran for my wardrobe and tried to climb up into where my shoes are; that's when stealth mode kicked in. I quickly grabbed my bug killer spray (yes, I keep it handy) and used the 'stream' setting to fire at him. I kept knocking him down every time he tried to climb up, but it wasn't working fast enough. I needed a shoe. It's like he knew the safest place for him to hide was deep within the things that would evidently kill him if given the chance. I sprayed double time just long enough to grab a warrior thong (hey, that's what they call them here!). I struck once, twice, TEN times until I was sure he was dead.

I'm happy to inform you that I was not injured in all this commotion, although I swear I keep feeling things crawling on me constantly. I no longer let my blanket touch the ground (learned that lesson years ago - Ember knows what I mean. It's NEVER a good thing to have a spider in your bed) and I have started wearing shoes in my room. Even though I used about half the bottle of spray to aid me in my spider-killing attempts, enough was spared to spray the window/door/EverySquareInch in my room. I may be inhaling poisonous chemicals tonight, but at least I can sleep a little better knowing that any spider who wants to avenge the death of their kin is also inhaling those same chemicals... and only one of us can survive.

Sorry for the lack of pictures in this posting, but I'm sure you can understand why I didn't pause to snap a photo. I promise my next posting will be purely pictures!

  1. Bwahahaha... you were always the brave one to attack and kill those little (and sometimes not so little) buggers.
I am so proud of you for your survival mode!

  2. Did you have a spider nightmare?! I would have woken up in the middle of the night throwing my pillows across the room and screaming. Yes, this has happened to me many times. Spider nightmares are the worst! How big was the spider that you killed? I'm getting the chills just thinking about spiders! Yuck!
